06/24/2013 - Ervin Industries, a manufacturer of cast steel and stainless steel abrasives, turned to Taylor-Winfield’s BOLTECH product line to solve a challenging material handling problem for its new Amasteel abrasive manufacturing facility in Glaubitz, Saxony, Germany.
Ervin Industries, a manufacturer of cast steel and stainless steel abrasives, turned to Taylor-Winfield’s BOLTECH product line to solve a challenging material handling problem for its new Amasteel abrasive manufacturing facility in Glaubitz, Saxony, Germany. After an initial meeting at the 2011 AISTech trade show, management at Ervin Industries engaged in a detailed engineering review with Taylor-Winfield addressing multiple problems they were experiencing with their current material handling equipment and processes.
The BOLTECH team visited Ervin’s Butler, Pa., facility where they surveyed Ervin’s problems first hand. A detailed engineering design review commenced and recommendations for improvements were made to Ervin’s existing designs. Marc Cossette, BOLTECH product manager, said that during the initial design phase “Their [Ervin] project manager pointed out problems they continually battled with their existing equipment and challenged T-W engineering to build them a better mouse trap for their German facility.” Cossette went on to say, “The equipment is completed and ready to ship. Ervin’s team came to Youngstown to review the equipment and the feedback from Ervin Management, both U.S. and Germany, has been very positive and we have developed a very good working relationship.” The first unit will be operational by the end of the 2013 and a second duplicate unit is scheduled for delivery in 2014.
The BOLTECH product line merged with Taylor-Winfield Technologies in 2012 to include integrated product offerings, expanded engineering capability and increased machine design and manufacturing capacity. The combined companies offer world-wide field service and spare parts support for existing and new customers, as well as comprehensive material handling and joining solutions. The synergies of the combined companies create a stronger market position from which to serve the steel handling and processing markets. This enables the company to offer more complex and comprehensive solutions to customer needs.
