Tenova TAKRAF to Supply New Stacker for Rio Tinto Operation

Tenova TAKRAF, through Tenova-Semf (Australia), recently signed a contract to design and supply a luffing stacker with HWE Mining at RioTinto’s Mesa A iron ore operation, located in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
 
Tenova SEMF signed the contract with HWE Mining, a Leighton Contractors owned subsidiary. HWE Mining will develop the whole mine.
 
Tenova TAKRAF’s contract scope includes the design, supply, transport, erection supervision and commissioning supervision of a fixed luffing stacker for lump ore. The stacker will feature a boom length of 50 meters and luff range of ±12°. It will operate at an average capacity of 3846 tonnes/hour with a peak rate of 5000 tonnes/hour. The annual capacity will be 25 million tonnes.
 
The stacker is to be delivered to the site by May 1, 2009.
