Tenova Strip Processing has recently received an order from Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) for a Tension Leveling and Inspection Line for the Bokaro steel plant, in the state of Jharkhand.
The turnkey project will be executed in consortium with Mumbai’s Multiform, which is now part of Tenova Group, and Kolkata’s Sunag Engineering, in charge of local supplies and services.
The line, which is expected to be commissioned within 24 months, will treat steel coils of 30 tonnes, widths of 800 to 1560 mm, and thicknesses of 0.25 to 2.0 mm, at a process speed of 500 m/min, for output of 550,000 tonnes per year. Tenova says the line will improve the physical characteristics of the carbon steel skin-passed coil.
Tenova notes that its contract is part of the Indian steel producer’s plans for a new cold mill complex, with 1.2 million tonnes-per-year production, inside Bokaro to raise its plant production capacity and diversify its value-added products.
Tenova designs and supplies advanced technologies, products, and services for the metal and mining industries. The company operates close to its customers through a network of 33 companies based on five continents.
Tenova Multiform is the new Tenova company established in India via the acquisition of Multiform. It is dedicated to the design and supply of process lines and cold rolling mills.
