Tenova to Supply Walking Beam Furnaces for New Tata Steel Plant
02/16/2012 - Tenova LOI Italimpianti and Tenova Hypertherm will begin 2012 by supplying three 350 tonnes/hour walking beam furnaces to the new Tata Steel plant in Kalinganagar, in Orissa, India.

The reheating furnaces will be equipped with state-of-the-art combustion technology and slab handling control systems. The scope of supply will be on a turnkey basis, excluding the civil works.
In the initial phase, the first two furnaces will begin production in October 2013. In the second phase, the third furnace will be started up in October 2014.
The project is a new milestone in the on-going cooperation between Tenova and Tata Steel. For Tata Steel, the new hot strip mill will be the most advanced installation in the area, which has been growing rapidly in the past two years. Products from the plant are intended for both the local and the export markets.
