ThyssenKrupp Announces New Chairman for Uhde Executive Board

ThyssenKrupp announced that Michael Thiemann has taken over as Chairman of the Executive Board of Uhde GmbH, effective June 1, 2009.
 
Thiemann joined Uhde in 1978 with responsibility for the commissioning activities of the globally active Uhde group in Canada, Greece, Pakistan, India and Germany. Between 1983 and 1986 he assumed the role of head of Uhde’s process engineering department, becoming Head of Technical Division II (Fertilizers) in 1987. He moved to Uhde India Ltd. (Uhde’s Indian subsidiary based in Mumbai) in 1994 to become Vice Chairman and Managing Director, overseeing the company’s expansion into one of India’s leading engineering companies.
 
On June 1, 2007 he was appointed to the Executive Board of  Uhde GmbH.
 
Thiemann studied process engineering at RWTH Aachen University, before completing his chemical engineering doctorate in polymer dispersion at Dortmund University. In addition to performing his duties at the company, he also chaired the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce in Mumbai from 2003 to 2004.
