thyssenkrupp Steel Appoints New Leadership Team
10/31/2025 - thyssenkrupp Steel has named a new chief executive officer (CEO) after Dennis Grimm, who has led the business since 2024, decided to step down.
Signed to a five-year contract, Marie Jaroni will take on her new responsibilities 1 November. Jaroni has been with thyssenkrupp since 2020 and currently serves as the chief sales officer and chief transformation officer.
She is succeeding Grimm, who has served as chief operating officer and executive board spokesman since August 2004. thyssenkrupp said Grimm and the company mutually agreed to part ways.
"Dennis Grimm assumed responsibility for the steel business at thyssenkrupp during a challenging phase and, in addition to numerous operational improvements, played a decisive role in shaping a new industrial concept and initiating the urgently needed restructuring. The supervisory board would like to express its gratitude to Dennis Grimm and wishes him all the best and continued success," said Ilse Henne, supervisory board chairwoman.
In addition to promoting Jaroni, the board also extended the contract of chief financial officer Philipp Conze for an additional five years. He has served in that role since April 2024.
Also, Wilfried von Rath has been named as labor director and chief human resources officer.
"Marie Jaroni and Philipp Conze enjoy the full confidence of the entire supervisory board. In recent months, Marie Jaroni has succeeded in setting the course for steel with strategic vision, persuasiveness, and great commitment. With her transition to the CEO position, she now has the opportunity to lead thyssenkrupp Steel into a successful future with her management team,” Henne said.
“Philipp Conze will continue to drive the performance-oriented financial management of the company with his many years of experience and great commitment,” Henne added.
The leadership change comes as thyssenkrupp looks to secure the future of its steelmaking business. It is in talks with Jindal Steel International, which has submitted a nonbinding offer for thyssenkrupp Steel.
