Toyota Accepts Significant Steel Price Hikes

According to a published release on JCN Network, Toyota Motor Corp. has accepted steel price hikes of slightly below 30,000 yen per ton in negotiations with major steelmakers.

The report said Toyota notified Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd. of its decision to accept the significant price hike after reaching agreements with Nippon Steel Corp. and JFE Steel Corp.

According to the report, sources said Toyota is set to convey its readiness to accept the price hike to Kobe Steel Ltd. by the end of this month.

The steelmakers had sought price hikes of about 30,000 yen per ton.
