U.S. Commerce Department Affirms Hefty Duties on Chinese Plate
01/18/2017 - The U.S. Commerce Department has made its final determinations on a trade case on Chinese cut-to-length plate, setting anti-dumping and countervailing margins of more than 300 percent.
More specifically, the department affirmed dumping margins of 68.3 percent and subsidy margins of 251 percent.
The case, which arose on a complaint from Nucor Corp., SSAB Enterprises and ArcelorMittal USA, will now go to the U.S. International Trade Commission for its final determination. The commission is rule by 3 March.
According to the department, imports of Chinese cut-to-length place more than doubled between 2013 and 2015, rising from 26,700 metric tons to 65,500 metric tons.
