U.S. Commerce Department Sets Anti-Dumping Duties on Tin Mill Products
08/22/2023 - Tin mill products from China, Canada and Germany are facing preliminary anti-dumping duties as high as 122% under a U.S. Commerce Department ruling.
The department has found tin mill products from the three countries are being dumped in the U.S. and set preliminary duties of 5.29% on products from Canada, 7.02% on products from Germany and 122.52% on products from China.
However, the department found that tin mill products from several other countries — South Korea, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom — are not being dumped.
“Commerce’s preliminary findings investigate the behavior of and seek to hold foreign producers accountable for their unfair trade practices. These findings demonstrate that Commerce took a careful and nuanced approach based on the particular circumstances presented by each company and the governing provisions of U.S. law,” the department said in a statement.
The Commerce Department initiated an investigation earlier this year following a complaint from tin products maker Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. and the United Steelworkers union.
