U.S. Steel Shipments Drop Slightly from July to August
10/13/2014 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of August 2014, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,480,954 tons, a 0.1% decrease from the 8,492,744 tons shipped in the previous month, July 2014, and a 1.7% increase from the 8,343,075 tons shipped in August 2013.
Shipments year-to-date in 2014 are 65,750,844 tons, a 2.7% increase vs. 2013 shipments of 64,019,060 tons for eight months.
A comparison of August shipments to the previous month of July shows the following changes: hot rolled sheet, up 3.0%, hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 1.0% and cold rolled sheet, down 3.0%.
