USW Ratifies U. S. Steel Labor Agreement
11/14/2018 - Members of the United Steelworkers union have overwhelmingly ratified a four-year labor agreement with United States Steel Corporation, the union has said.
In a statement, the union said the agreement includes a signing bonus and 14% in wage increases over the next four years. The agreement is retroactive to 1 September and will continue through 1 September 2022.
U. S. Steel said the contract covers roughly 14,000 employees at its U.S. flat-rolled mills, iron ore mines and tubular operations.
“We believe these four-year agreements are fair and in the best long-term interest of all of our stakeholders. We are pleased to have reached this agreement with our USW-represented employees,” said U. S. Steel president and chief executive David B. Burritt.
