22 August 2013 - AK Steel has reached an agreement to settle an action brought on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Commonwealth of Kentucky under the Clean Air Act and other statutes and regulations with respect to AK Steel's former Ashland, Ky., coke plant. The agreement was reached without admission of the alleged violations by AK Steel.

21 August 2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of June 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,806,319 tons, a 3% decrease from the 8,047,245 tons shipped in the previous month, May 2013, and a 2.6% decrease from the 8,016,834 tons shipped in June 2012.
